Breaking the Ice: Five Guaranteed Tips
The girls over at Your Tango have suggested five icebreakers that apparently really work. I’m always very hesitant about those suggestions, because dates are often so different, but have a look for yourself.
Here are my three favorites:
3. What was your favorite book when you were young?
I don’t know about you, but I light up at the mere mention of The BFG or Harriet the Spy. And hearing what type of books a girl was into can be very revealing—did she read The Babysitters Club or the Tillerman Cycle (or both)? This question always leads to awesome nostalgia freak-outs.
4. What is the weirdest thing that ever happened to you?
Everyone has at least one story about a seriously weird experience. Maybe they got stuck on a broken elevator with Weird Al Yankovic. Maybe they dated the President of the Weird Science Fan Club. 5. If you won $1 million, how would you spend it? (Charitable donations are not an option.)
This is one of the questions I had to answer for my online dating profile, and Nancy used a variation of it on our Skype date. Everyone would quit their job and travel, but where would you go? And what would you do when you got there? This one is all about the follow-up questions
